In the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, amidst the city’s vibrant energy, 22 bright, promising individuals gathered for a transformative experience—the Emerging Leaders Retreat hosted by Absolute Storage Management. Over two days, these rising stars within our company immersed themselves in a program designed to sharpen their skills, forge meaningful connections, and deepen their understanding of leadership.
The retreat began with a warm and enthusiastic welcome from our executive team—Scott Beatty (Chief Executive Officer), Amber Tyson (Chief Operating Officer), and Jasmin Jones (Chief Business Development Officer), — setting the tone for two days of growth and inspiration.
The retreat’s agenda was thoughtfully curated to cover various topics vital for leadership development. For one of our most engaging topics, the expert for our workplace culture tool led an enlightening information session, empowering attendees to understand and interpret their results. Additionally, Carrie Holbert (Director of Human Resources) discussed how we can continue to utilize this tool to make sound business decisions. Later, she delved into the nuances of professionalism and its profound impact on organizational success.
Megan O’Connell’s (Operations Project Manager), insightful presentation on leadership and accountability resonated deeply with participants, equipping them with tools to navigate complex challenges with integrity and resolve. Grace Totty (Vice President of Marketing) shared invaluable public speaking tips, empowering individuals to communicate confidently and clearly. Grace also led another session with invaluable technology tips, equipping attendees with tools to leverage innovation and streamline processes for enhanced productivity.
Amber facilitated a session on receiving communication feedback, fostering a culture of open dialogue and continuous improvement, and recognizing the importance of confidence and strategies to master it, empowering participants to embrace their strengths and lead with conviction. Suzannah Fischer (Director of Operational Effectiveness) navigated the delicate terrain of having difficult conversations, empowering attendees to embrace discomfort and catalyze growth. Additionally, Suzannah guided individuals through effective problem-solving techniques, improving resilience and adaptability in adversity.
Justina Kempski (Training Lead) arranged an engaging communication game, challenging participants to assess their interpersonal skills and foster collaborative cooperation. During the retreat, attendees were also able to bond over a team-building activity at The Painted Pin, a boutique bowling and entertainment facility, further building connections while also encouraging a little friendly competition.
The retreat concluded with a thought-provoking leadership questionnaire and team-building exercise encouraging self-reflection and collaboration. Each attendee received additional leadership expert reading material to take home, symbolizing the company’s commitment to nurturing courageous leadership and authentic connection.
The Emerging Leaders Retreat in Atlanta, Georgia, was not just a gathering; it was an opportunity that ignited a spark of potential in each attendee and allowed them to grow personally and professionally, fostering connections that will endure long after the event. As these emerging leaders return to their roles, they carry new insights, strengthen bonds, and are poised to make a meaningful impact within the organization and beyond.
